With software redundancy, only one CPU module is added, and the failure rate of the two CPU modules is almost zero. In the software redundancy, the condition monitoring and handling of the two CPU modules are solved by software programming. Therefore, software redundancy programming is relatively complicated and requires a lot of work. Moreover, the software preparation cost exceeds the pure hardware redundancy, and the application and protection are troublesome.


Taking into account the above factors, the two CPU modules work together in the system, one running in the main control mode and the other running in the hot backup mode. When there is a problem with any CPU in between, another CPU immediately monitors and issues an alarm, actively putting the normal CPU into the master form. The undisturbed switching of the CPU keeps the system controlled, ensuring safety, and together, the pipeline production line has always been in an excellent working condition.
